Privacy and cookies

Trusted Guards is a directory of UK security companies. This page explains what information we hold, where it comes from, what we use it for, and the cookies this website uses. If you have a question, or want a listing corrected or removed, email hello@trustedguards.co.uk.
The company listings
Each listing describes a business, using what the business publishes about itself. We show:
- the business name, website, phone numbers and email addresses
- the town it’s based in (never a full street address)
- the services it offers, the areas it covers, its accreditations and the year it was founded
- a short description of the business
Where it comes from: publicly available information the business has published about itself, such as its website and public business listings. Every listing is checked before it’s published.
Why we publish it: to help people find and compare security companies, which also brings those companies enquiries. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a useful directory of businesses that advertise their services publicly.
Most listings are about companies, not people. Some, such as a sole trader or a contact email with a person’s name in it, include personal data. We publish only business contact details the company has made public itself, nothing else about the person.
How long we keep it: while the business is listed. We review listings from time to time, and we remove a listing when the business closes or asks us to.
Correcting or removing a listing: email hello@trustedguards.co.uk from the company, and we’ll act on it within 7 days.
Who we share it with
We use carefully chosen service providers to host this website and to help us find, check and keep the listings up to date. When you search by postcode, the postcode is looked up with a mapping service. These providers only process information on our behalf and under our instructions. Some may be outside the UK; where they are, the information is protected as UK data protection law requires. We don’t sell anyone’s information.
Visiting this website
We don’t ask you to sign up, and we don’t collect your name or contact details unless you email us. Like any website, our server keeps short-lived technical logs, which can include IP addresses, for security and to fix problems. They’re deleted after a few weeks.
Cookies
We use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used, such as which pages are visited and how people arrive. They aren’t used for advertising, and they come from third-party analytics providers.
- Visit counting runs for everyone unless you decline.
- Detailed analytics sets cookies only if you accept. Until then it sends only a basic signal without cookies or identifiers, used to estimate visit numbers.
| Cookie | Set by | What it’s for | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
datafast_visitor_id, datafast_visitor_first_seen_at, datafast_visitor_session_count | Visit counting | Counting returning visitors | 1 year |
datafast_session_id | Visit counting | Grouping one visit’s pages | 30 minutes |

Your choice is saved in your browser (as tg_consent), so we don’t ask again. Declining also saves a setting that stops visit counting, and removes the analytics cookies already set.
